Overview

Objective

Part of SpringCM's continuous effort to create the best possible user experience for our customers includes a global-level Action menu. The globally accessible Actions menu lets you create documents, access forms, complete actions and open custom URLs from anywhere within the SpringCM platform.

Moving the custom actions functionality into the navigation header creates a more consistent browsing experience for SpringCM users, as well as creates a streamlined method for setting up commonly enacted workflows.

Customize Global Actions

You can add more actions to the Actions menu in the global navigation header. These actions can include triggering a workflow, creating a document, accessing a form, etc., to save your users time when doing commonly used tasks.

Add a New Action

  1. Log in to SpringCM as an administrator. 
  2. Click the Admin link in the navigation header.
  3. Click Navigation & Actions link under Account Preferences. 
  4. Click the Actions Menu sub-tab under Customize User Navigation Header For Account Default.
  5. Click the New Action button.
  6. Enter a name for the action in the Action Name field.
  7. Enter an optional description for the action.
  8. Select an activity for this action to trigger from the What should this action do? list.
  9. Check the Pass user information with this action checkbox to include user data during the information transaction for this action.
  10. Choose an option from the Open this action in: list if you want to change the default browser reaction.
  11. Choose an option from the What icon should represent this action? menu to customize the action's graphic.
    You can choose from icons provided by SpringCM or link to a web image of your own.
  12. Click the Save button to add this action.

Change the Action menu name

You have the option to call the Actions menu something more specific to your account's brand.

  1. Log in to SpringCM as an administrator. 
  2. Click the Admin link in the navigation header.
  3. Click Navigation & Actions link under Account Preferences. 
  4. Click the Actions Menu sub-tab under Customize User Navigation Header For Account Default.
  5. Delete the "Actions" text in the Actions Menu Name field.
  6. Click the Save button in the bottom-left corner of the window.
